Morning Medical QiGong w/ Shahida

Medical Qi Gong is a movement-based cosmology rooted in Daoist practices that emphasize harmonizing with the seasons, connecting with Heaven and Earth energies, and balancing the Five Elements within the body. Sliding Scale $10-25 per class.

This practice integrates balance and standing postures, meditative movements, stretches, breathwork, and visualizations to cultivate overall well-being. Offered every Friday, this in an accessible class for all levels, ages and abilities. Feel free to take just one or two classes or come for the entire series! Sliding Scale $10-$25 per class, or 10 class-pack for $200.

Benefits of this practice include strengthening of your vital life force or Qi, immunity, flexibility, balance, and longevity while reducing stress and quieting the mind.

Wondering what we will do in class? Here is a break down of the 3 main area of class and the types of practices we might rotate through. Every class is dynamic and different, but with repeating themes and movements.

Structural - we explore our structure/foundation with a variety of standing postures, horse stance, stability and balance exercises and grounding visualizations.

Somatic - dynamic moving practices that includes gentle stretches and meditative movements that are designed to work on 3 levels of the body:
A)  the external body such as muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and pelvic floor

B) the highly complex network of light-Qi-energy-life force flowing through the meridian system, both the superficial and deep pathways and

C) the energetic, emotional and physical components of the visceral organs, the ZangFu organs.

Breathwork - we incorporate a variety of breathing techniques and meditation practices in order to expand our awareness to the more etheric aspects of Self: we cultivate Qi, calm the heart-mind, improve vagal tone, and ground and connect our bodies with all pervading universal Life Force. Benefits of this practice include strengthening of your life force, immunity, flexibility, balance, and longevity while reducing stress and quieting the mind.

The Fall Series in particular will focus on the Metal Element, the Lung and Large Intestine organs and meridians, strengthening the respiratory and immune system, releasing grief, letting go, healthy boundaries, and cultivating discernment and clarity of mind, body, and spirit.

**Please bring a yoga mat to stand on OR some non slip sock to practice in. We practice on a cement floor. Our practice will be mostly standing, with some sitting meditation in the beginning and options for using a chair/sitting if needed based on individual needs. No class held on November 28th.
